Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

2 large eggs

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup mini turkey or pork sausage links, cooked and sliced

1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Waffle Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until smooth. Gently fold in the mozzarella cheese until evenly distributed.

Preheat the Waffle Iron: Preheat your waffle maker to the desired setting (medium to hot usually works best for crispy waffles).

Cook the Sausages: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the mini sausage links until golden brown and heated through. Slice them into bite-sized pieces and set aside.

Make the Waffles: Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or brush it with oil. Pour enough batter into the waffle maker to cover the bottom without overflowing. Close the lid and cook according to manufacturer instructions, usually around 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown.

Assemble the Sliders: Once the waffles are cooked, carefully open the waffle maker and remove the waffle. Cut it into quarters. Take one quarter, spread a spoonful of marinara sauce on top, add some sliced sausage pieces, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Top it with another waffle quarter to create a slider.

Repeat: Continue the waffle-making and assembling process until all batter and sausages are utilized.

Garnish and Serve: Arrange the sliders on a serving platter. Optional: top with fresh basil leaves for an added touch. Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
