Ingredients

12 large Medjool dates, pitted

12 slices of thick-cut bacon

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped (optional)

1/4 tsp black pepper

Pinch of sea salt

Toothpicks for securing (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Dates: Stuff each pitted date with 1/2 tsp of chopped fresh rosemary (if using) for an added herbal note. Wrap each date with a slice of bacon, ensuring that the bacon covers the date completely. You can secure it with a toothpick if desired.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the bacon-wrapped dates seam side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each date for even cooking.

Drizzle with Maple Syrup: In a small bowl, mix the maple syrup with black pepper and a pinch of sea salt. Drizzle the maple mixture generously over each bacon-wrapped date, ensuring they are well-coated.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized, and the dates are warmed through. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Glaze & Finish: For a glossy finish, in the last 2-3 minutes of baking, give the dates another drizzle of maple syrup and return them to the oven.

Cool & Serve: Once done, let the dates cool for a few minutes before serving. They can be served warm or at room temperature, making them perfect for gatherings or as a special treat!
