Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/3 cup melted unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup granulated sugar (you can reduce to 3/4 cup for less sweetness)

1 large egg, beaten

1 teaspoon baking soda

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Prepare Bananas: In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Ensure there are no large lumps for even distribution in the bread.

Mix Wet Ingredients: Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas until well combined. Then add in the beaten egg, vanilla extract, and sugar. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, optional ground cinnamon, and flour.

Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet banana mixture. Be careful not to over-mix; stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy.

Add Optional Ingredients: If you're adding nuts or chocolate chips, gently fold them into the batter now.

Pour into Pan: Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil.

Cool: Once done, remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve: Slice and enjoy your deliciously moist banana bread warm, at room temperature, or even toasted with a bit of butter on top!
