Ingredients

1 lb (16 oz) frozen meatballs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)

1 cup uncooked penne pasta

3 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Combine the Ingredients: In a large, deep baking dish (at least 9x13 inches), pour in the uncooked penne pasta. Spread it evenly across the bottom of the dish.

Layer the Meatballs: Evenly distribute the frozen meatballs over the pasta.

Add the Sauce: Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs and pasta, ensuring everything is well-covered.

Mix the Cheese: In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir well until smooth.

Top the Casserole: Dollop the ricotta mixture over the top of the meatballs and pasta. Use a spatula to gently spread it out, covering as much area as possible without disturbing the meatballs.

Cheese It Up: Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Uncover and Continue Baking: After 30 minutes, carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown around the edges.

Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
