Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, lemon zest, paprika, and half of the Gruyère cheese. Mix well, then fold in the sautéed shrimp and garlic-onion mixture.

Assemble the Gratin: In a buttered baking dish, pour the shrimp mixture evenly. In a separate bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with the remaining Gruyère cheese and the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle this breadcrumb mixture evenly over the shrimp.

Bake the Gratin: Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with fresh lemon wedges on the side.
