Ingredients

1 cup uncooked orzo pasta

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved

1 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon balsamic glaze (for drizzling)

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: red pepper flakes for a hint of heat

Instructions

Cook the Orzo: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the orzo pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, stirring continuously to avoid burning.

Add Tomatoes: Toss the halved cherry tomatoes into the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the tomatoes start to soften and blister.

Combine Ingredients: Reduce the heat to low. Add the drained orzo, fresh mozzarella, chopped basil, and heavy cream to the skillet. Stir well to combine all ingredients and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the mozzarella is starting to melt and the mixture is creamy.

Cheese it Up: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until melted and well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. For a little extra spice, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately. Drizzle with balsamic glaze for an added touch of flavor. Garnish with extra basil leaves if desired.

Enjoy: Serve warm and savor every creamy, cheesy bite of your Caprese Orzo!
