Instructions

Prepare the Marinara Sauce:

    - In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

      - Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.

        - Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

          - Add the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning to taste.

            Make the Meatball Mixture:

              - In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, minced garlic, beaten egg, salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

                Form the Meatballs:

                  - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

                    - Take a palm-sized portion of the meat mixture and flatten it in your hand. Place about a tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese in the center, then fold the meat around the cheese to form a ball. Ensure the cheese is well-sealed inside. Repeat until all the meat mixture is used.

                      Bake the Meatballs:

                        - Place the stuffed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

                          - Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until browned and cooked through.

                            Combine with Marinara:

                              - Once the meatballs are cooked, gently transfer them to the saucepan with the marinara sauce. Stir to coat the meatballs in the sauce and heat through for an additional 5 minutes.

                                Serve:

                                  - Serve the meatballs over cooked spaghetti or alongside crusty bread. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
