Ingredients

1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)

2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (for dough)

½ cup unsalted butter, melted (for topping)

6 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Pinch of salt (for topping)

Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with ¼ cup of melted butter. Stir until combined.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Shape the Knots: After the dough has risen, punch it down gently. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope (about 6-8 inches). Tie it into a knot and tuck the ends underneath. Place the knots on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them.

Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the remaining ½ cup butter over low heat. Add minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, oregano, crushed red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

Brush and Bake: Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the knots. Save some for brushing after baking. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.

Finish and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and immediately brush with the reserved garlic butter mixture. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve warm and enjoy your buttery garlic knots!
