Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)

1 ½ tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

1 ½ cups warm milk (110°F/43°C)

½ cup unsalted butter, melted (divided)

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped

1 tbsp fresh thyme, finely chopped

1 large egg (for egg wash)

Additional sea salt for topping

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until foamy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and ¼ cup of the melted butter. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Prepare Herb Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the remaining ¼ cup of melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

Coat the Rolls: Dip each ball into the garlic herb butter, allowing for an even coating, then place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle any remaining herb butter over the top.

Second Rise: Cover the baking dish with a towel and let the rolls rise again for about 30-40 minutes until they puff up.

Preheat & Brush: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Final Touch: Remove from the oven and brush the rolls with any leftover garlic herb butter from the bottom of the pan. Let them cool slightly before serving.
