For the dough:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 tsp salt

For the filling:

1 cup cooked sausage, crumbled (or vegetarian sausage)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cooked spinach, chopped (or any greens of your choice)

1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper (or your favorite vegetable)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

For the egg wash:

1 egg, beaten

1 tbsp water

Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add melted butter, egg, and salt, mixing well. Gradually stir in flour until a dough begins to form.

    Knead and rise: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

      Prepare the filling: In a skillet over medium heat, add the crumbled sausage and cook until browned. Stir in spinach, bell peppers, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat to cool slightly.

        Roll and assemble: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle (about 12x16 inches). Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar on top.

          Form the rolls: Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal, and cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cut-side up, leaving a little space between each roll.

            Second rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and allow them to rise again for about 30 minutes until they puff up.

              Preheat and wash: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water to create the egg wash. Brush the tops of the rolls gently with the egg wash for a golden finish.
