Ingredients

2 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven:

Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

      Prepare the Apples:

Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or a mandoline, slice the apples into thin rounds (about 1/8-inch thick). If you'd like, remove the apple cores using a small round cutter or a knife.

          Soak in Lemon Juice (Optional):

If you prefer, soak the apple slices in a mixture of cold water with lemon juice for about 5 minutes to prevent browning. Drain well and pat dry with a paper towel.

              Make the Cinnamon Sugar:

In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

                  Coat the Apple Slices:

Arrange the apple slices on the prepared baking sheets in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Lightly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple slices, turning them over halfway through to coat evenly.

                      Bake the Chips:

Bake the apple slices in the preheated oven for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until they are dried and crispy. Keep an eye on them in the last 30 minutes to avoid burning. For even cooking, you may want to rotate the baking sheets halfway through.

                          Cool and Store:

Once baked, remove the apple chips from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheets. They will continue to crisp up as they cool. Store cooled chips in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
